types of warts on the skin

Certain types of human papillomavirus that penetrate damaged areas of the skin cause rapid cell growth in the upper layer. As a result, warts form. The types of warts can be different. Wherever they form on the skin, they can vary greatly in size and color. Usually, warts do not bring significant problems, they go away on their own. However, in some cases it is advisable to see a doctor and remove them.

The types of warts on the body are usually differentiated according to their location.

Types of warts

  • Vulgar (common)
  • Plantar,
  • Flat (youthful),
  • Genital warts (genital warts)
  • filiform,
  • Senile (seborrheic keratomas).

Common warts

Vulgar or common - this is the most common type of tumor. Small lumps (up to 10 mm) with a rough surface. They extend very slightly above the surface of the skin and are completely painless. Common warts form on any part of the body, but are most commonly found on the neck, head, elbows, or knees.

Another characteristic of common warts is the appearance of the "main", large wart, minor.

Plantar

This is a type of common wart, also called "Spitz". It is located on the skin of the foot, most often on the side of the sole. It consists of several papillae, fused together and surrounded by a cylinder. Sometimes the spitz looks like a dense thorn that has grown on the skin. Sometimes plantar warts can grow inside the skin. They then look like a fossa surrounded by a cylinder with protruding papillae. Plantar warts often cause discomfort to a person because they cause discomfort and even pain while walking.

They may be provoked by tight or uncomfortable shoes. In such shoes, skin areas are damaged and become more vulnerable to the penetration and development of human papillomavirus.

Apartment

Flat warts are more common at an early age in children and adolescents and are therefore referred to as juvenile age. These are small formations (usually about 3 mm). They may be wheeled or irregular. The surface of juvenile warts is smooth and flat. The color is usually the same as the color of the skin, sometimes flat warts can be yellowish in hue. These types of warts can form on any part of the skin, but their "favorite" places are the face and hands.

Flat warts usually do not cause physical discomfort and disappear over time. However, when placed in a prominent place, they cause aesthetic discomfort, so patients often turn to a doctor or beautician for removal.

Genital warts

Such warts are localized in the genital area and the infection occurs through sexual contact. The most common types of genital warts are the groin, penis, labia, and anus. In addition, these types of warts can develop in the mouth.

Genital warts are small skin growths with sharp-pointed, small papillae. These papillae merge with each other and often look like cauliflower. The color of the genital warts is dark-flesh-colored and pink.

Treatment for genital warts is performed by dermatovenerologists with the participation of a gynecologist or urologist.

Filiform

Filiform warts (acrochords) are more common in older people. Elongated growths resembling yarn. Filamentous warts can be up to 1 cm in size. The localization of the acrochord is the skin of the neck and face. They most often develop on the eyelids, the lips. There are fibrous warts in the armpit.

Acrochords are often damaged due to their elongated shape. In most cases, they do not go away on their own, and even after removal, relapses often occur, with the formation of new warts in the same places.

Senile

Seborrheic keratomas most often develop in old age due to skin lesions. They are found anywhere on the body, but more often on the neck, arms, chest. These are small flat papules with clear borders. Senile warts are more often yellow-pink or brown in color, up to 2 cm in size, may be single, and may form whole foci. Dead skin cells form the basis of such neoplasms. At first they are soft, but over time they become dense, covered with cracks.

Warts in old age require careful attention as they are prone to malignant transformation.

So there are different types of warts. Most of them are harmless, but it is better to see a doctor without delay.
